House 28: Man

What is happening for the man designated in this reading?

The House of the Man invites you to look at what concerns the man you have chosen to represent in your reading.

Before reading this position, know who you mean: the person asking the question, someone close to them, a colleague or another man involved.

You can then ask: “What is happening for the man designated in this reading?”

The card in position 28 offers a clue about his situation, role or what is occupying him.

Choose the person before interpreting

The Man does not automatically represent a romantic partner. His role depends on the people involved and the convention chosen for the reading.

If you use significators, these cards stand for specific people. Their assignment should be clear before you interpret what concerns them.

If no one was designated, do not use this House to invent a role after the fact.

The Ring: a bond concerns him

The Ring speaks of commitment, a promise and an agreement.

In the House of the Man, it may show that a contract, relationship or commitment matters in this man's situation.

The House tells you who you are looking at. The Ring card gives you a subject to consider, without proving that it is a marriage.

The Fox: his work or a need for caution

The Fox may speak of work and situations where something needs checking.

If you are looking at his professional life, the card may show his job or way of working.

If your question concerns trust, it instead invites you to examine intentions and actions. Its presence alone is not enough to say that this man is lying.

The Woman: another person enters the picture

The Woman may represent a person who was also designated for this reading.

In the House of the Man, she may show that this woman is involved in what concerns him.

The connection may be family, work, friendship or love. The Tableau still needs to help you understand its nature.

What if the Man falls in his own House?

If the Man was chosen as a significator, finding him in his own House acts like a very direct mirror. The Grand Tableau speaks clearly about this man and his place in the situation.

Look at the surrounding cards to understand what concerns him, what affects him and where he is heading. His self-placement does not make his story happier or more significant. It simply makes the reference less ambiguous.

Some methods consider this position ideal; others do not. It is best not to turn it into a universal rule. If the card was not assigned before the reading, do not invent its role afterwards based on gender stereotypes.

The Man card and position 28

The Man card may appear elsewhere in the Tableau. It remains the significator for the person assigned to it.

The House stays in position 28. The card there offers an answer about this man; it does not become this man.

No personality is assigned

Some methods use a masculine polarity as a reading convention. Keep it only if you chose it in advance.

This House proves neither authority, strength nor any particular way of acting. Start with the real person and what the reading is trying to understand.
